The decision has been taken to " Cancel " the Fun Day, planned for Sunday 20th July 2025 at Over.
This has not been taken lightly but the situation at Over, with low water levels, warm weather and accelerated weed growth is making it impossible to hold regular activity, let alone a special, full day event.
A big "Thank you" must go to those who have continued to progress arrangements for this Fun Day, in a hope that it would be possible to hold the event but unfortunately the hurdles are too big to deal with in the time frame that is left.
Some alternative locations had been considered (to cover this eventuality) but the costs involved to set things up, seemed too high, if members weren't willing to try another location and time was not on the Club's side to communicate the options, etc.
Now the focus must change to maintaining an area large enough to continue "regular" boating and yachting activities !!!
The water levels are not within the GDMBC control but removing aquatic vegetation is !!
So this is a "call to action" - help clear some of the water or lose the water ?
Your Club needs YOU !
It's not all heavy, physical work that is involved, as removing the floating debris can be completed with a net.
So please consider when you could be available and get involved.
