Malswick House, is a traditional country inn situated on the edge of Newent in the historic Forest of Dean, Gloucestershire. The compelling reason for H&G CT to purchase the establishment in 2013 was that it will be the only established waterside pub on the restored Canal in Gloucestershire. Our ownership ensures this exceedingly well located site is used to promote the Canal from the outset. In the long term it will bring visitors to the Canal and form a high profile point of public access.
In the short term it will provide the focus for an important stretch of Canal restoration with displays and information about our objective of complete restoration, with the potential to attract new members and increased support.
The development and ownership of appropriate Canalside properties is part of the overall strategy of the H&G CT, and represents one of our solutions to the many challenges in achieving our objective of restoring the Canal and ensuring its maintenance indefinitely.
