Wind Power at Alney Island Gloucester City Council has erected a new wind turbine just behind our two cottages by the lock at Llanthony. We have been able to support this sustainable resource by agreeing that they could connect their turbine to the National Grid by means of the supply at our cottages. Reclaimed materials at Over The reconstruction of the Basin at Over coincided with the demolition of the Over hospital that had stood nearby in readiness for a new housing development. Materials from the demolition were recycled by the Trust. This included thousands of heavy Victorian bricks that went into the building of the wharf walls. The Wharf House at Over Basin was built on the site of the old lock cottage that once stood overlooking the banks of the River Severn. The shell of the building was constructed for the Trust by Swan Hill Homes.
